"Charm Attack" - Leona Naess
Kyoya/Haruhi
Dedicated to Nyanto

(AU Vid) Haruhi reminisces on her relationship with Kyoya Ohtori, the Shadow King of Ouran High. Despite his cold actions, she is drawn to him and his hidden kindness. He is both possessive and distant, but she doesn't mind. However, Kyoya's determination to be the best, no matter what, outshines even his affection for Haruhi. The two slowly fall for each other and start an intimate relationship, but Kyoya only ends up hurting her as he denies his feelings. Haruhi is not immune to his charm, even after all they've been through. In the end, she remembers all their especially important moments, and cries in her sleep over what could have been.


Notes: The summary is more background info for the video than anything linear as the video doesn't really follow it straight-on. ^^;; And yeah, the lyrics are kinda wacky, but what drew me to the song the most is the "Watch out, he'll charm you" line especially. Originally, Tamaki was going to be featured, but as you'll see, Kyoya fits more with the lyrics. Also, I made his "weed" his money instead. Just go with it. XD Lol.
This was supposed to be sorta bittersweet, but I don't think it really came across too well. I guess I'm a bit rusty in terms of making Ouran AMVs. *sigh* Well, hope you enjoy anyway!



For those who have requested a drabble from me - guess what? I'm actually well on my way with writing them! *_* Yay! You'll probably get 'em by the end of the week as I have a final plus an interview on Thursday. And unfortunately, I'm a perfectionist as well. >>;;

I LOVED that AMV. You probably just think it could be better because you're the one who made it. :P Ain't that always the way.

But seriously, I thinked you picked out great footage of Kyouya to use. Usually people just keep using the major scenes over and over until you get sick of seeing them, but you pieced together a nice range of Kyouya moments. And I loved the use of their bedroom scene, how you split it up and molded the rest of Haruhi's thoughts around that one moment. Nice. Very great AMV. 'Twill go on my favorites!

Hehehe, yeah, that is always the way. XD There's always something I think could make it better, but I feel like I get lazy towards the end. ^^;;

Anyways, I'm really happy you pointed out what footage I used. As an avid AMV watcher before I started making them myself, I know how redundant and boring an AMV can get (especially a pairing one) when you see the same footage over and over if it isn't cut creatively. I always look for the more obscure moments (aka both characters are in the same frame XD) and try to use those when possible, even if it's not one of the more popular scenes. I was probably influenced by my Buffy and Angel AMV watching days as many video makers from that fandom have to get creative when cutting scenes for pairings that seem like they have no contact whatsoever.

Anyways, yeah, Kyoya and Haruhi is an especially hard pairing to vid simply for the fact that it doesn't have as many moments as TamaHaru (and TamaHaru has A LOT of moments). The bedroom scene is what people use most, so I tried to take full advantage of it without using it all up at the same time. ^_^

And wow, my reply just got monstrously big. Ack, sorry about that. >>;;

I actually liked hearing your response in detail. Making AMV's is something I've always wanted to try myself. I hear songs everywhere and immediately I begin choosing scenes in my head, cutting them together, placing them with certain beats in the music, deciding whether I want them black or white...

Until I've got a whole freakin' project in my brain. And then I can't make it because I don't have the tools, skills, or time. So mostly I just like to hear about how others work through the process. (And of course I like to watch them.) Sometimes I can relate because I'm an enthusiastic writer, so I know fanfiction can get the same way with the overuse of certain scenarios...

Basically, it takes talent to utilize those more subtle moments, and often it's those moments brought to life and expanded upon that make the veiwer (or reader) giggle with glee. You've got the talent. Keep up the good work!
