Umm… I’ve never written something this R-ish before. I’m kinda horrible with such things. That’s why I usually flee in the other direction in terror. So, I apologize if this is just horribly cheesy and if it doesn’t work. At all. Romance novel writer, I am not. I have no experience writing this kind of thing, not really, but I thought this drabble series was as good a time as any to practice. Happy reading. (I hope.)
January 5 aka Through Eyes Not Mine
When Lois places her hand on his chest, Clark is keenly aware of how her heart rate picks up, how she takes in that one tiny gulp of air before she speaks, her voice the only sound in the world that matters. She’s here now, she says, and he knows; he knows because it’s the first time in a year that he’s felt anything at all.
The candles flicker in the hazel of her irises. She’s waiting; it’s his turn now. No, not his turn – his chance. To make up for months and days and moments of regret.
Clark kisses her then, leaning forward and capturing her lips in a way he’s dreamed of every night since he realized what she meant – what she means – to him. It took him awhile to understand the void in his chest, why he couldn’t stand to be around Chloe or Oliver. He’s never been good with matters of the heart, not really, but when he feels, he feels with everything he has. There is no in-between.
So when he kisses her, he doesn’t hold back. He’s reaching for her buttons, and her hands are sliding up his muscles and into his hair. Too much time has been lost, and there’s not enough left to do this how he would have before. He’s losing her either way, if they fail or succeed, and he’s selfish and he needs whatever moments he can have with her.
They kiss and kiss and kiss, and he slips her shirt over her shoulders, the popping of its buttons echoing loudly with their low mingled breaths. She reaches for his pants and his arms close in around her back.
Clark lifts and swings her onto the mattress in the corner, and he can’t get enough of her, allowing their mouths to break apart for only a moment so he can rid her of her shirt entirely. Then his lips are claiming hers again, demanding and wanting. Lois answers with just as much passion and her thumbs graze the skin above his jeans.
His hips buck against hers, and they both gasp into their kiss. His skin is on fire with her touch, and still, she’s not nearly close enough. His palm slides over her hip and across her flat stomach, her silky skin electrifying his fingertips, and he enjoys the way Lois responds to the slightest touch. There is the faintest hint of strawberries still clinging to her hair and he breaks their kiss to breathe her in.
He nips at her neck and hooks his fingers under the straps of her bra, and she arches her back, helping him release the clasp from behind. Then she’s free and she wraps her arms around his nape before he can drink in the sight of her. She’s dragging him down and simultaneously straining up, and she’s kissing him, devouring him.
Clark groans and flips them over, unfastening her jeans at the same time she goes for his, and for a moment, they’re a tangle of limbs and pants and shoes. Lois laughs against his lips, which makes him smile too – smiling, it feels so strange – but a twist here and a kick there, and then they’ve stripped completely.
Lois breathes in shakily, settling on his abdomen, and Clark clutches her hips to keep her from moving downward, the heat in his gut spiraling out of control. She sits up straighter, her long hair flowing over her shoulders, and she looks down at him with such love and desire that it fills all the empty places inside him. He wonders how he never saw what was right in front of him.
Clark allows his eyes to drift over her naked form and god, she’s gorgeous and she’s his, if only for tonight. He cups her face and draws her back down, and somewhere in the back of his mind, he prays that his younger self isn’t stupid enough to let her slip away.
Lois murmurs his name as she leans down and places her hands on his chest, her thick hair falling over them in a fine brown curtain. His fingertips trail along her smooth backside and down her thigh, a thrill running through him when she shivers.
… Clark…
He looks up at her under hooded eyelids and admires how the light dances across her face through the canopy of her hair. She kisses him softly, sweetly and the heat sizzling them slows but still manages to burn twice as hot.
Clark.
He whispers his love and a totally different type of light illuminates her face, and the beauty of her smile takes his breath away. So he says it again and again and again until she’s laughing and beaming that beautiful smile at him so brightly that it etches itself into his memory forever. Her mouth forms the shape of his name.
Clark?
Her image wavers and for the first time, he frowns. Her next kiss is feather-light, almost nonexistent. She’s slipping away from him. Panic wells up inside and he reaches for her, but she’s already fading–
“Clark?”
Clark gasped, shooting up on the couch, his breathing heavy and labored. His fingers clenched, remembering but not remembering the feel of her soft skin, of her dominating his every sense. He jerked when a hand clutched his arm.
“Whoa, Smallville.” The familiar voice made him tense. “That must have been some dream.” Concern colored Lois’s face and she pressed her palm to his temple, checking his temperature. “Are you okay?”
Clark stared at her. Seconds ticked by before his hand closed around her wrist and he fell forward, his forehead on her shoulder. When a shudder ran through him, he closed his eyes.
And breathed.

Date: 2010-01-07 05:26 pm (UTC)You are such an awesome writer! I followed a favourited link by someone and found your fanfics! They're brilliant. You manage to capture Lois and Clark so well. I've been missing out all these days. Can't wait to read all your work while waiting for the rest of season 9 to air.
Am suffering withdrawal symptoms lol.

Date: 2010-01-08 10:34 am (UTC)And you're so sweet.
I'll try to update as often as I can. I tackled this project so I can practice my writing, but I do have other writing projects going on (Grad school! Yikes.), so I will inevitably fall behind. But I hope to keep up the pace for as long as I can.
Also, may I ask what link you followed to my stories? I'm just curious. :) Was it at someone else's LiveJournal? FanForum? Etc, etc...
Thanks again for commenting! I really appreciate it. ♥
